How to maximize window in mac remote desktop
It only takes a minute to sign up. I'm logged in to a Windows 7 machine from a Windows 7 desktop, using the standard Remote Desktop client. I want the remote desktop session to NOT be full screen on my client machine, but to easily maximise windows on the remote session to the full size of the remote desktop window. The Windows menu is typically displayed under the icon in the extreme upper left corner of most Windows applications, and it lets you Maximize the application window. Go to start.
Click on Remote Desktop Connection. That opens the Remote Connection Window. It has a drop down at the bottom called Options.

But what if you want to go all-in and see the entire remote desktop and it as though you were sitting right in front of it? To do this, you configure screen sharing on the remote computer and connect to it with a VNC client on the local computer. Manjaro and Fedora, for example, have the same options and settings described below.
We went through this process with Ubuntu Click the toggle in the title bar to turn it On. This password is not related to any user account, but it must be provided by remote clients when they connect. If you forget the password, you can always repeat these steps to reset it. Encryption is used to transfer and verify the password when a connection request is made.

This is more of a concern on connections across the internet. Avoid opening sensitive or private documents over the connection. Now, we need to configure a client to connect to this computer, and that brings us to IP addresses. Warning : We recommend using VNC only over a local network. If you want to connect remotely, we recommend setting up a virtual private network VPN server on the network with the remote Ubuntu system. This avoids exposing the VNC server directly to the network.
However, if you want to make the Screen Sharing server accessible over the internet anyway, this section shows you how. The IP address a network presents to the internet is its public IP address.
So, we need to find that IP address. Imagine you want to call someone at a hotel. You first call the hotel and give them the name of the guest you want to speak to. The switchboard operator checks the hotel directory and puts your call through to the correct room. The router on a network acts as the switchboard operator. It only takes a minute to sign up. Is there any way to get the client to use the full screen?

There seem to be no options for this in the menu bar on on the dock icon. I'm not really a VNC fan, in any of its forms It seems a shame to waste my screen real estate, especially since I am on only a 13" screen. Or press Command - 2. If you're trying to exit Full Screen, you can also hover your mouse at the top of the screen, it'll show up the menu as below.

I think the best option here is to use Microsoft Remote Desktop. This is different than the Remote Desktop Client you mention. During setup for the connection there is an option for resolution, have that selected to "native" and you should be able to take advantage of full screen.
It is a commercial app, but provides a shareware version that allows you to manage up to 1 document, 10 connections and 10 credentials for free. It also offers native OS X fullscreen mode and an extended fullscreen mode that minimized the UI down to only the tab bar being visible. For an alternative that does full screen, try CoRD. You can try Ericom Blaze, a software-based RDP acceleration and compression product that accelerates RDP performance by up to times and delivers higher frame rates and reduces screen freezes and choppiness.
This will turn on additional settings at login including a Display tab where you can change the Remote desktop size to full screen.

Control - 2 will take you back and forth from full screen to windows mode when using Microsoft RDP on a mac. You can also configure your RDP preferences but must exit and then log back into the RDP session for them to take effect. Sign up to join this community.
